Can you understand us? Fangirl Speak 101

As we have mentioned in our previous posts, we fangirls have our own vocabulary.  To outsiders, many of the things we say may look or sound like nonsense, but fangirls everywhere understand our language.  The best part of our vocabulary is that it carries over from twitter and bbm to our real life conversations with each other.

1) Let me clarify that we use “fangirl” in many different ways.
·         “These fangirls are not BSC”
·         “I was fangirling hard after I met Joey”  *this is for you Ash*
·         “She is a devoted Nick fangirl”

2) Most statements we make get one of the following responses from other fangirls:
·         Truth  (Fangirl 1: No one gets us like we get each other Fangirl 2: Truth)
·         Right  (Fangirl 1: Angry JK is hot! Fangirl 2: Right?!)
·         Word  (Fangirl 1: We need another NKOTBSB tour Fangirl 2: Word)
·         This!  (Fangirl 1: Everyone needs to watch Blue Bloods on Friday Fangirl 2: This!)
·         Love (Fangirl 1: Getting HUMPed by Donnie made my day. Fangirl 2: Love)
·         Hearts (Fangirl 1: Did you see Jon’s tweet? Fangirl 2: Hearts)

 3) If you counted the number of times we “almost died,” “am dying”, or are “dead” – we have more lives than a cat.

 4) WE GOT THIS
We say this a lot.  What is it exactly that we “got”?  That is for fangirls to know, and others to want to know. ;)

 5) Of course there are words/phrases in our fangirl vocab that we HATE to hear.  The most hated word for us is “soon”.  We don’t want “soon”, we want “right now".  “Soon”  doesn’t work for us boys, so try being more specific.

Every fangirl group has their own specifc words and phrases that are unique, and reflect the experiences you have had together.  It is the small things like this that make fangirling fun, and solidify the sisterhood we share.  For us, Rest Stop 41 (which you have seen many times in this blog) serves as a reminder of a weekend full of memories that will last a lifetime.

The first lesson in fangirl speak is complete.  If it makes sense to you - welcome to the club.
