Some things never change...

Let me start off by saying that the boys of One Direction make me wish I was 17 again. Don’t get me wrong, I will forever love the men of NKOTBSB but there is just something special about the pure joy that a boyband brings a teenage girl. Hearing them on the radio or seeing their new video makes you happy in a way that you just can’t describe; you just know that you love them. My message to all of the Directioners (that’s right, they even have a nickname-how proud does that make us BHs?) is to enjoy absolutely every minute of it. You may think that no one understands your love for this band or these boys but trust me, we do. And we are here to tell you that those that don’t understand your love will never understand. The bond between a fangirl and her band is special; don’t let anyone tell you differently.

Remember when we were mini fangirls and all that we wanted in the world was to see our favourite guys in concert? The very thought of being in the same room as NKOTB or BSB was almost too much for us to handle. Things may be different for us now, but over the weekend a few of us discovered that absolutely nothing has changed for today’s mini fangirls. Some classics overheard before the boys of One Direction hit the stage: "I would just die if Zayn walked by me" and "You don’t understand how much I love Harry. Seriously, I love him." The 13 year old girls that we took to the show couldn’t believe that they were going to be breathing the same air as One Direction-sound familiar ladies?

The last time I was at a boyband concert surrounded by teenage girls, I was one of them and Nick Carter was telling me that he would never break my heart. I remember my mother telling me how loud the screaming was when she used to take me to shows, but I never believed her. Now I realize that it was because I was one of the people screaming-those One Direction fangirls definitely have some power in their lungs. But the screaming didn’t bother me at all; in fact I love every minute of it. It definitely brought me back to my time as a mini fangirl and I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any other way.

I will admit that I was really impressed with One Direction-they did a great job. The crowd obviously loved them and the boys seemed to enjoy every minute of it. Their five part harmonies definitely stole a piece of my fangirl heart-THESE BOYS CAN SING!

If this song isn’t a sign of them being the next big thing, then I don’t know what is. Summer 2011 flashbacks anyone?

So let’s welcome the One Direction fangirls to our world. One last piece of advice: Enjoy it, love it, and go to as many shows as possible. ;)
